I forgot to mention that while at the airport Sunday, while waiting for our flight back home, I got a call to tell me that another mom of another friend had passed away suddenly. So tomorrow, I will be back at the same cemetery for my second funeral in as many weeks.
I can't help but think that bad things happen in three's. I know that's a superstition, but I'm waiting for the third shoe to drop.
This morning we learned that my dad-in-law is back in the hospital and that is what I thought about. Of course, I didn't say any such thing to Gareth and won't. I'm glad he doesn't read anything I write ...
Neil is only in to "get pumped with antibiotics," as Gareth phrased it. However, it looks like he is going to have to have his gall bladder removed, and that's where I'm scared. Neil has an aortic aneurysm that due to its dangerous location, is basically inoperable. We know it's a ticking time bomb and we're not ready for it to go off yet. I certainly don't like the idea of them opening him up for anything at this point. No, I'm definitely not sharing those thoughts with my husband.
So I'll be back at Groman Eden cemetery tomorrow at 2:00. Megan gets out of school at 2:30. Not too convenient. Fortunately, my friend Scott -- whose daughter is Megan's best friend -- said he'd come out to Northridge and pick her up from school before he gets Scottie. This is nice of him, as our neighborhood is about 15 miles away from his. So the plan is he will pick up Megan for me (whew!), then take her to help him get Scottie from her private school (which gets out at 3:00)... and then he'll take both girls to gymnastics, after which he'll bring them to my house and they can play while I order pizza or something...
We usually watch the Oscars with Scott and Cindy (who have a really nice home theater setup), but after two weekends of craziness, Gareth says he doesn't feel like going out on Sunday night. So I asked Scott to ask Cindy if they would be available to watch with us here. I'm hoping they are -- they're fun to have an Oscar party with. We'll have to plan a nice meal that won't require me to spend much time in the kitchen :)
