Remember how I started 2012 by breaking my thumb? And began the summer with a broken big toe on my driving foot?
Last night, as I fumbled around in the dark, I stumbled right into the hallway pet gate we use to keep the dog away from the cats. And I'm pretty sure I bruised a rib, because it hurts -- especially when I try to reach up or bend down.
I'm also pretty sure it's not more serious than that, because I did the usual WebMD search, which gave me the worst-case scenario (broken rib, punctured lung, etc). The pain is nowhere near as bad as what I felt when I slammed my car door on my thumb, and is quite bearable -- as long as I don't bend down or reach up.
And my breathing is just fine -- although it did hurt a few minutes ago when I tried to yell at the dog.
"Hey, I'll drive to school if you can't," my daughter offered helpfully. She got a lot of practice chauffering me around over the summer when the broken toe kept me off the road. But this isn't affecting my driving.
What I am going to need help with is cleaning the house. Any bets on how helpful she's going to be with that?
We figured out a way around that one, Donna. We make Keara clean certain parts of the house (that aren't already on her usual daily/weekly chore list) to earn her phone payment each month. Like cleaning the three bathrooms. She's actually started taking a much more active role in cleaning other parts of the house that we don't ask her to clean, just because she sees that they need cleaning. Helps hubby HUGE and makes me happy to *finally* see her taking responsibility for something outside of her normal daily routine.
